Openair Horizons: Water

A game by Callaloop

Paddle out at first light. Whack what bites. Make it to the far dock.

Explore nine waters by stand-up paddleboard, canoe, rowboat and jet ski in Openair Horizons: Water, a portrait arcade adventure about reading the water, timing your strokes, and staying aboard while wildlife, traffic, weather and the shoreline close in. Our first game, made for one thumb.

Inside the game

  • Nine waters, nine moods

Cross a dawn lake, a lantern-lit bayou, a neon harbor, the open coast and five city waterways. Each route has its own light, landmarks, hazards, wildlife and rhythm.

  • Four craft

Start on a stand-up paddleboard: a long, steady board you ride on your feet, moving it with a single long paddle. Then earn a canoe, a rowboat and a jet ski. Each one changes speed, turning, grip and stroke rhythm.

  • Three stories, twelve chapters

Three four-chapter campaigns. Finish a chapter, head home, and pick up at the next leg whenever you like.

  • World Tour

Paddle all nine waters in order as one continuous expedition. Reach the ninth destination and the tour loops back to the first for another lap.

  • Daily and Weekly

A seeded Daily run keeps the same route and conditions on every retry that day. The Weekly expedition sets one water, one craft and one forecast for the whole week, and lends you the craft if you haven’t earned it yet.

  • Your difficulty

Choose Chill, Standard or Wild for your own runs. The Daily, the Weekly and World Tour always play at Standard.

  • Challenges made for the water

Clean overtakes, slalom gates, bridge lines, inside turns and wake rides, depending on where you are.

  • Find your flow

Chain clean strokes, near misses, counters and pearl lines to build Flow. Push it for speed and score, but one hit breaks the rhythm.

Built from the water up

Big Sur, straight from the game.
  • Water you can read

A custom water shader with real wave motion, sky reflections and foam where the hull meets the water, so you can read the current before you hit it.

  • A world made in code

Shorelines, skies, textures and every paddler are generated by the game itself, so each water has its own shape and light.

  • Real places, rebuilt

Amsterdam’s canals, Lake Union, the Thames, the Seine and Positano, each rebuilt as water you can paddle, landmarks included.

  • Made for phones

One-thumb controls, portrait play, haptics, and quality settings that keep older phones smooth. Once installed, it plays offline.
